For years, Mount Abu was the summer residence of many Indian Princes, who wanted respite form the stifling summer of their windless plains.
Bikaner House was the summer residence of the royal family of Bikaner. Constructed in 1893 during the minority of Maharaja Ganga Singhji, the mansion was designed by the legendary architect Sir Swinton Jacob, under the supervision of the Council of Regency.

Set on vast grounds amidst tranquil hills, Bikaner house occupied one of the best locations in Mount Abu and was visited regularly by the Maharaja and the royal family. In 1962 Maharaja Karni Singhji decided to convert the royal residence into a hotel.
‘PALACE HOTEL’ as it is now called has been in operation since then. The Place hotel, today a classified ‘Heritage Hotel’ still stands glorious as before – a legacy from the Maharajas of Bikaner.
At the Palace Hotel your time is spent only in beautiful and peaceful surroundings. For years our guests have come back to assimilate the surrounding flora and fauna, to experience the quiet and solitute, to stroll the gardens, to absorb the smell of pine and fresh leaves in the air, to sit by the lake or to simply do nothing.

Connaught house is a charming English country cottage set in shady gardens within walking distance of the town of Mount Abu and the famous Nakki lake. This property of the Maharaja was formerly the official summer residence of the chief minister of the princely state of Marwar. This was the official summer residence of Sir Donald Field, the erstwhile Chief Minister of the Princely State of Jodhpur. It is a lovely country cottage, perfect for a leisurely holiday. In spite of being secluded, it is very close to the town center and the famous Nakki Lake. The cottage is well furnished and well maintained.

Kesar Bhawan is one of the oldest palaces in Mt. Abu built in 1868 A.D. and belonging to maharaja Kumar Daivat Singh of Sirohi whose ancestor Maharao Lumba conquered the hill of Mt.Abu in 1311 A.D the Sirohi royal family built another palace in 1913 A.D. from then the Kesar Bhawan was used as the guesthouse for visiting dignitaries. Built in the year 1868, Kesar Bhawan palace is one of the oldest palatial buildings in Mount Abu. When the Sirohi Royal (the occupants of this palace) family built another palace in Mount Abu in 1913 to be used as their private residence, Kesar Bhawan Palace was started being used as their guesthouse. Palanpur Palace was constructed more than a century ago by Nawab Sher Mohammed Khan of Palanpur state. Later his son Nawab Taley Mohammed Khan took keen interest and further furnished it to make it an ideal summer Palace. The present Iqabal Mohammmed Khan provided more glory and glamour to this palace, to stand out amongst other palaces. It was Nawab Taley Mohammed Khan, who had the noble idea of converting a part of this Palace from 1923 to 1936 for Hotel purpose. It was named "MOUNT HOTEL" and later an Englishman named it as "Hotel Skeltania".
