The Fairy Queen

The world's oldest steam locomotive Fairy Queen has resumed its once a week run from New Delhi Cantonment Station to Alwar. The 155 years old steam locomotive has been certified by Guinness Book of Records as the world's oldest working engine. It is normally kept in the National Rail Museum but for winter, it is pulled out to take tourists to Sariska Wild Life Sanctuary. The fairy queen is the oldest working broad gauge steam locomotive in the world and was built in the year 1855 by the British firm Kinston, Thompson & hewitson for the British firm east India railways. This train will have only a first class (non - air-conditioned) chair car having 50 seats and a pantry car for on board catering.

The Fairy Queen takes 50 discerning passengers, from around the world, on unforgettable two day weekend trips from Delhi to Alwar on selected days. From there, a short drive will take them to tiger country and an overnight stay at Sariska. The two-day package includes a night's stay at the Sariska (near Alwar) from where the tourists are taken around the Sariska Tiger Sanctuary.
